You will need an LSAT score in order to continue your study of JD.

The (JD) Admissions Office, however, refused to disclose the LSAT score requirement for internal LLM transfers. Prior experience of successfully transferred TW and CN students suggests that a score of 158 (on the first attempt) is necessary, plus an outstanding performance during your LLM study (A-minus or A in 75% of your courses taken and not receiving grades lower than B+ -- note that the letter grades in UIUC LLM are separate from JD grades).

Doing JSD is a completely different matter. As you might have heard elsewhere, nowadays JSDs in the United States focuses much more on the incorporation of social sciences (economics, psychology, socialogy, etc.) and empirical methods (experiment design, quantative methods like the use of statistics and even econometrics) into the study of law, and such rigorous approach of legal academia is extended to foreign-educated JSD candidates as well.

The traditional comparative law research (like you see in many articles in local law journals in TW) simply will NOT impress the JSD admissions committee. You need to demonstrate your ability of quickly grasping and applying fundamental concepts in social sciences, of discovering new and unresolved research topics, and of how you approach your topic to get meaningful conclusions, when you present your research outlines to the JSD admissions committee.

There are some professors in UI College of Law who are very good at this new type of interdisciplinary studies (Professor Bob Lawless, Professor Jen Robbennolt, Professor David Hyman, just to name a few) and I suggest you spend some time to take look at the faculty directory.

Hope the above information helps.

are you suggesting in the first paragraph that any second attempt on lsat would be more likely regarded inferior? thx
